Started within the Banking and Finance Department

about 5 years ago (2000)


In 2014 became a separate Unit The Insurance
Unit
On 25th March, 2015 it became a separate
Department (1 of the 7 departments within FEMA)

Insurance and Risk Management Degrees


The Department of Insurance now offers a stimulating
and rewarding:
Undergraduate degree in Insurance at the
B.Com. Level
Undergraduate degree in Insurance and Risk
Management at the B.Com.(Hons) level.
Postgrad Degree in Insurance and Risk
Management at MA Level
Doctoral Level Degree in Insurance and Risk
Management at Ph.D. Level

Degree in Insurance and Risk Management


The programme includes the following elements:

A Common Year 1
Year 2 and 3, a choice of 2 majors. Course content covers
essential areas required to work in Risk Management and
Insurance. Exit point B.Com Insurance and 2nd Major
Year 4 Course content is more advanced and delves into
case studies and practice. A final academic dissertation, in
which students pursue an empirical or theoretical study in a
topic of their choice under supervision of one member of the

MA Insurance and Risk Management Part-Time

MA (By Research) Insurance and Risk Management


Students are required to obtain a total of 90 ECTS credits over a period
of 5 Semesters of part-time study (intake 2 times a year).

Degree in Insurance and Risk Management


These Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) degrees, give
students access to different local Masters Programmes
and those offered abroad
It Offers the necessary skill base to build successful
careers in the private and public sectors as well as
internationally including with EU institutions.

Recognition
The Degrees offered by the Insurance Department are recognised by both The
Federation of European Risk Management (FERMA)

and
The Chartered Institute of Insurance

Recognition agreement with The Chartered Institute of Insurance


Students Finalising B.Com (Hons) in Insurance and Risk Management
wanting to obtain also the Advanced Diploma in Insurance
(Associate - ACII) will need to complete the some extra assessments 1
multiple choice and some assignments on subjects which would have been
covered during the Degree studies.
Talks are being carried out so that revision lectures will be provided in
collaboration with MITC or as extra sessions during the degree program
(the assignments can be done at any time before completing the B.Com
and B.Com (Hons) MA Insurance and Risk Management Degree).
B.Com (Hons), ACII (extra assessments) and the MA Insurance
and Risk Management Successful students will also be granted the
Fellow - FCII status.
