Ebonia, Ymyr Dyan H.

What is Microbiology?
From mikros small, bios life,

and logia study.

Study of living organisms that are

invisible to the naked eye. Such as

Bacteria, Virus, Archaea, Fungi and
Protozoa.

BACTERIA
- Single celled micro organisms
- The cell has no nucleus or
membrane bound organelles.
- Reproduce by binary fission.
- Only living thing that can fix
Nitrogen
- Major decomposers of dead
animals and plants.

ARCHAEA
- Single celled micro organisms
- Prokaryotic cell
- Reproduce by division, budding or
fragmentation.
- Can survive extreme and harsh
environment.

FUNGI
- Can be single celled or very complex
multi-cellular organism
- Unicellular organisms yeasts and
molds.
- Multicellular organism mushrooms

PROTOZOA
- Single celled micro organisms
with animal-like behaviors.
- Motility and Predation
- Can produce oxygen that aquatic
animals use.

VIRUS
- Small infectious agent that replicates
only inside the living cells of other
organisms.
- Can infect all types of life forms, from
animals and plants to microorganisms
including bacteria and archaea.
