Drakes digipak for Nothing Was The Same is

predominantly blue with Drake, the artist

himself, as the main focus of the cover. The
blue sky in the background is effective as it
helps connote the whole idea he is floating
away from reality and this may be the
feeling the target audeince get when they
listen to his music for escapism. It is also
something surrounding everyone in the
world therefore it is an example of the uses
and gratifications theory of personal
relationships as everyone has seen a blue
sky before and has access to seeing one. On
the other hand is has some negative
connotations as it could emphasises feelings
of being lost depending on how the target
audience choose to decode the background.
The fact the protagonist and main focus of the cover is Drake, not only
connotes he is vain but also conforms to Richard Dyers star power theory as he
has a large fan base across the world and people may buy it because his face
is on it due to how popular he is. It also signifies how he doesnt need to have a
really fun looking digipak because he has so many loyal fans they would
purchase the album regardless of how boring it looks.
