Commercially extracted by the hydrolysis of
crustacean exoskeletons
Marketed to support the structure and function
of joints and the marketing is targeted to people
suffering from osteoarthritis
Glucosamine is a precursor for
glycosaminoglycans (major component of joint
cartilage), supplemental glucosamine may
influence cartilage structure, and so may apply
to alleviation of arthritis.

Chondroitin
Occurs naturally in the body
Chondroitin sulfate is an important
structural component of cartilage
and provides much of its resistance
to compression.
Tracheas of cattle or from pigs ears
and snouts, shark cartilage.
