Why? Because paragraphs will distract


your students from your lesson. They
become passive in any sort of engaging
pedagogical activity. Students will also
dismiss anything a teacher says after they
are finished reading a large slide. Slides
with key words ground the student on a
discussion, but they encourage the
student to pay attention to the specific
details the teachers are highlighting.

The 5/5/5 rule: no more


than five words per line
of text, five lines of text
per slide, or five textheavy slides in a row.
