    There are three main kinds of mixtures: solutions, colloids, and suspensions. Solutions are homogeneous mixtures with components uniformly distributed. Colloids are also homogeneous mixtures where the component particles are larger than solutions but too small to see with a regular microscope. Suspensions are heterogeneous mixtures where the components can be clearly distinguished from each other and are large enough to see without a microscope.
