INTRODUCTION:
Joining process in which two (or more) parts are
coalesced at their contacting surfaces by
application of heat and/or pressure
Many welding processes are accomplished by
heat alone, with no pressure applied
Others by a combination of heat and pressure
Characteristics of TIG:
Welds more metals and metal alloys than any
other process
High quality and precision
No sparks or spatter
No flux or slag
No smoke or fumes
Shielding gas protects the weld and tungsten
Characteristics of
Duplex stainless steels
Excellent resistance to pitting corrosion
High resistance to general corrosion in a
variety of environments
Good weldability
OBJECTIVES:
To find the microstructure of the welded
material
by
using
Scanning
Electron
Microscope.
Microstructure
which
also
determine
chemical, physical and mechanical property.
Microstructure which influence all aspects of
the behavior of material.

LITERATURE REVIEW 1
The effect of large heat input on the microstructure
and corrosion behavior of simulated heat affected
zone in 2205 duplex stainless steel
Abstract:
In the simulated heat affected zone of 2205 duplex
stainless steel ,effects of large welding heat inputs on
the microstructure and corrosion behavior were
investigated. Growth of grain boundary affecting the
corrosion state.Reduction of chromium content resists
the pitting corrosion.
LITERATURE REVIEW 2
Abstract:
In order to obtain the information about
weldability of high nitrogen steel
Microstructure and mechanical properties of
heat affected zone under laser welding
conditions were investigated.The impact
toughness of simulated HAZ increases at first
and then decreases with the increase of cooling
time.
LITERATURE REVIEW 3
Abstract:
The prior-austenite grain size in the heat-affected
zones of single-pass butt welded joints in thick
HSLA-100 steel plates was evaluated.
The grain size was related with the temporal history
of the location, on Gaussian heat source distribution
for two different heat-input conditions.
The austenite grain size significantly influences the
microstructure and properties of the heat-affected
zone.
