Competency 4

ENGAGE IN PRACTICE- INFORMED RESEARCH AND

RESEARCH INFORMED PRACTICE BEHAVIORS

Use practice experience and theory

to inform scientific inquiry and
research.

By actually going out into the field, interacting with clients and
doing case work, I am able to see first hand the lack of
resources available for the guardian ad litem program. The case
overload is negatively impacting the children because they are
not receiving the full benefits of the program. We are not able to
see the children as often as we should and we have to cut our
visits short as well because we have so many kids to see.

Apply critical thinking to engage in

analysis of quantitative and qualitative
research methods and research findings.

At the guardian ad litem program we collaborate together as coworkers to advocate for the needs and wants of the children. We
work as a team to gather all the research necessary for each
case and come to a conclusion.

Use and translate research evidence to

inform and improve practice, policy, and
service delivery.

Bringing awareness to the community as well as recruiting is

something we do a lot at guardian ad litem. By doing this, we
are hoping to recruit more volunteers to improve practice, policy
and service delivery.
