Testing for Gifted Students

Unlike before, ALL K-5 were tested for gifted
eligibility using the MAP assessment
(achievement).
Students are tested for gifted eligibility again in
2 years!
MAP scores go home next week with a letter
and interpretation guide.
The letter explains if a student has moved on to
the next round of testing---CogAT(mental
ability) and Renzulli testing (creativity &

Gifted Eligibility
Students who scored above the 90th% on the reading and/or math MAP test.
Students will take an additional test in October or early November. The CogAT
test will be taken on-line for 3rd-5th graders; K-2 will take a paper/pencil version
of the test.
It is a three day test, but will only take 30 minutes to an hour each day.
Day 1: Verbal
Day 2: Quantitative
Day 3: Non-verbal
The on-line results should be back before the paper/pencil test. It may still be
late December or early January before we have the results.
You will receive a letter from the school once we have the results informing you
whether or not your child is eligible to begin receiving Gifted Services.
Gifted instruction is provided in the homeroom class. Many staff members here
at Huntley Hills are Gifted Certified by the state of Georgia.

Magnet Eligibility

All applicants

75th percentile or higher MAP Reading score, fall 2016

75th percentile or higher MAP Math score, fall 2016

3.0 GPA or higher from 2016 fall semester report card

DeKalb County residency (zoned to a DeKalb County school)
