Introduction

The Air driven Engine is eco-friendly engine which operates with

compressed air.
An Air driven Engine uses the expansion of compressed air to
drive the pistons of an engine.
Air driven Engine is a pneumatic actuator that creates useful work
by expanding compressed air.
There is no mixing of fuel with air as there is no combustion. It
makes use of Compressed Air Technology for its operation.
So, an Air driven engine is basically pneumatic actuator that
creates useful work by expanding compressed air.

Methodology

1. Compressed Air Technology: The compression,

storage and release of the air together are
termed as the Compressed Air Technology. This
technology has been utilized in different
pneumatic system. This technology has been
undergoing several years of research to improve
its applications.
2. Two stroke Engine: A two-stroke engine is an I.C
engine that completes the thermodynamic cycle
in two movements of piston twice that number
for a four-stroke engine. In this way 2-stroke

3. Solenoid Valve: The solenoid valve is an electromagnetic valve

for use of liquid or gas. The valve is controlled by an electric
current through a solenoid coil. Solenoid valves are the most
frequent used control elements in fluidics. Their tasks are to shut
off, release, dose, distribute or mix fluids. They are used in many
application areas.
4. The Valve Actuation System: It is the system used to actuate the
valve mechanism. The main components of valve actuation
system are
. Infrared pair
. Infrared emitter
. Infrared Sensor
. Electronic circuit
. Batteries
. Wiring system
. Valve Timing disc

5. The Piping System: The pipe system is used to connect the

components involved in the passage of compressed air. It is used
to connect the cylinder to the solenoid valve to the cylinder
head.
6. Pressure gauge System: It is used to measure the display the
pressure at the position at which the pressure gauge is installed.
The pressure gauge is connected to the inlet of the solenoid
valve. This will help to measure the pressure inlet to the
solenoid valve.

Future Scope

The Air Powered Engine technology is cheaper in cost and

maintenance, can be easily adapted by the masses in the near
future and it does not cause any harm to the environment.
Its wide spread use will help mankind in controlling the serious
problems of global warming.
Future developments can be done by designing an ideal vehicle
for this kind of engine for efficient means of transportation.
Air Driven Engine can majorly contribute in automobile concept
of Clean Fuel, Green Earth.
