to go safely, legally, and comfortably.

What is Driverless Car?

It is a vehicle that can drive itself from
one point to another without assistance
from a driver

Idea & Concepts

The Google Self-Driving Car
is a project by Google that
involves developing technology
for autonomous cars.
The software powering Googles
cars is called Google Chauffeur.
The project is currently being
led by Google engineer
Sebastian Thrun, former
director of the Stanford Artificial
Intelligence Laboratory and coinventor of Google Street View.

Some facts that you should

know
The U.S. state of Nevada passed a
law on June 29, 2011, permitting the
operation of autonomous cars in
Nevada.
Google had been lobbying for robotic
car laws.
The Nevada law went into effect on
March 1, 2012
The Nevada Department of Motor
Vehicles issued the first license for an
autonomous car in May 2012
The license was issued to a Toyota
Prius modified with Googles
experimental driverless technology.

Some facts that you should know

(contd)
In April 2012, Florida became the second
state to allow the testing of autonomous
cars on public roads.
California become the third state to
legalize the use of self-driven cars for
testing purposes as of September 2012
when Governor Jerry Brown signed the
bill into law at Google HQ in Mountain
View.
Governor Rick Snyder signed legislation
allowing the testing of automated of
Self-driving vehicles on Michigans roads
in December 2013, BUT this legislation
requires a human in the driver seat at all
times while the vehicles is in use

In Europe, Germany, Netherlands and Spain have allowed

testing robotic cars in traffic.

Also, Finland is planning on passing a law before 2015.

FEATURES &
FUNCTIONS
Basically how it works.

Google Self-Driving Car Project

Advantages

Driverless Car drive at

Optimal Speed

1. Reduction of Car Accidents

Automated collision avoidance systems
Drive at optimal speed
Less fatalities
Avoid human errors
No sleepy, grumpy, texting humans
Increased reliability and faster reaction time compared
to human drivers

due to an autonomous systems

2. Fuel-efficient
Due to
optimal speed

3. Convenient

Sit in the car, let the car drive you to the

destination

Fully utilize the advancement of technologies

4. Better traffic
flow

There would be a
better management of
traffic flow as they will
all be monitored over a
controlled system

5. Best for Senior Citizens &

handicaps

No more age constraints

It would not matter if the occupants were under age, over

age, blind, distracted, intoxicated, or otherwise impaired

Safer for them due to optimal speed

A questionable Advantage
FEWER CAR?
If each family owned one
car that suits all family
members, then it will be
fewer cars on the road.

BUT

IF each member wish to have

one as they can own it without a
driving license and to their
convenience, then this particular
advantage will become a
SERIOUS DISADVANTAGE

So this advantage will depend on the regulation by the

Government, maybe by restrict the number of cars can be
owned by each family.

Anyway,

Google's driverless car still

a Good news
for bad drivers

Comparison to a normal car

Assume yourself is the only user

What you CAN DO?

Drive

Check your prettiness or handsomeness from the backside

mirror

Drive with one hand while do other stuff with another hand
(play music, wechat, phone call, eat, selfie?)

Read message (slightly)

Make up (mostly during traffic lights turn red)

What you CANNOT DO?

Sleep

Read

Text too long

Chat too long

Rush assignment
