GREEN SKYSCRAPER

Introduction
A global movement of green skyscrapers is upon us. Architects,
engineers, developers, and clients with the additional influence
of governmental guidelines are pioneering this shift towards ecotowers. These towers are shaping the future of tall buildings, and
utilizing green technologies on an entirely new scale. This greater
scale might mean greater positive effects, Skyscrapers in general
mean more materials, more money, more time, and more risk. The
vastness of these buildings goes against many of the minimalist
environmental ideas of late. Nonetheless, if building up is a
necessity, these skyscrapers certainly are respectable and aweinspiring. Green building comprises only a tiny component to
reducing the carbon footprint of our civilization. In order to truly
make an impact, the motivation from these entrepreneurs, policy
makers and intellectuals needs to trickle down to the remaining
public.

Developers can build green skyscrapers to their hearts contents,

but unless the inhabitants of these skyscrapers act with
sustainability in mind, their efforts will be futile. Buildings are
great, but ultimately it will be the people who decide the ecological
future of our planet. The last point is around money. Its great to be
green, but money is also green! Meaning, these projects are
extremely expensive. Thus, the population that can afford these
spaces is limited, and no one is even sure if the new skyscrapers
will be filled. Additionally, skyscrapers may need to be the future of
housing our population, but such expensive structures seem less
feasible when rich corporations are less involved. This means that
these high-end projects may start affecting urban growth and
development.

OBJECTIVE
Get a broad view of the green skyscrapers being built
around the world.
Observe trends in the technology and other practices, in a
local and a global context.
Analyze and critique the motivations for building .
These skyscrapers Forecast the future of skyscrapers.

Aim
To find out the possible ways to integrate plants into
skyscrapers and asses how the integration of plants into the
skyscraper design can help to reduce the energy use,
improve the environment and enhance the living quality.

SCOPE
The Green Building movement is gaining strength in many countries.
Developers, especially
governments and local authorities, often set the trend by
commissioning buildings built to
recognized green building standards. The main motivation in
building to such standards is that
green buildings are much more energy efficient than conventional
buildings and consequently,
cost less to run. However, there are other factors that motivate
developers to adopt green building

LIMITATION
Due to limited knowledge source in typology of the project and time
Constraint for the scale of the project, consideration shall be restricted
to certain level of detailing, and detailing services and structures shall
not ne covered.

METHODOLOGY:
Design requirements of the project will be formulated by the
following methods:
Primary data: Clients brief
Interviews with managerial staff of existing
facilities.
Site visits
Visual survey and observations.
Secondary Data: Extensive literature.
Case Studies in India
International case studies will also be conducted
via internet.

SITE
KLD kothari square DR BABA SAHEB

.THE SITE IS 100M AWAY FROM THE
DB/INDIA TOWER.

LITERATURE
The Pearl River Tower, Guangzhou,
ChinaThe Chinese government set the
goal of reducing carbon emission by 10% by the
end of 2010. Guangzhou experiences
some of the worst air pollution & is the
major focus of an environmental
initiative.

Differences between a Skyscraper

and Green Skyscraper
In general, The skyscraper is the pile of floor spaces around or
with a core area, staked homogeneously and vertically, one
over another, enclosed with glass faade, seeking to optimize
net-to-gross area efficiencies (Yeang, 1994). They are generally
high energy consuming, polluting, waste producing tall
buildings. From their very invention, while made by concrete or
steel the design of these tall buildings remains the same,
though technology and engineering have become far better
and much more sophisticated. On the other hand Green
skyscraper is the practice of creating structures and using
processes that are environmentally responsible and resource
efficient throughout the buildings life cycle from sitting to
design, construction, operation, maintenance, renovation and
deconstruction. These are the sustainable and high
performance buildings.
