motion of the particles of the medium.

Wave that need a medium in order to
propagate

The matter for which sound travel
and propagate.

SOUND
Example of longitudinal wave and
classified as mechanical wave.
Caused by vibrations.
Vibration are considered a
disturbance that travels through a
medium.

SOUND
More distinct in solids than in air.
Heard much louder when it travels
in solids than in air.
Travels fastest in solids and
slowest in gases.

SOUND WAVES
Transmitted easier in liquids.

SOUND SPEED
Dependent on several factors:
Atmospheric pressure
Relative humidity
Atmospheric temperature
