    Here are the latest Philippine Poverty Statistics reflecting the full year data for 2015. The last release was for the first semester of 2015. 1. Poverty significantly decreased from 25.2% of the population in 2012 to 21.6% of the population in 2015 and from 19.7% of families in 2012 to 16.5% of families in 2015. 2. Significantly, the magnitude of poverty has also decreased. For the past several years, while the percentage of poor families/ individuals has decreased, the magnitude of poor families/ individuals increased because the rate of decrease of poverty was slower than the rate of growth of the population. - The number of poor families decreased from 4,214,921 in 2012 to 3,746,513 in 2015. This represents a decrease of 468,408 poor families. - The number of poor individuals decreased from 23,745,985 in 2012 to 21,927,009 in 2015. This represents a decrease of 1,818,976 poor individuals. 2. Income needed by a person per day to be considered non-poor is P59.60. For a family of five, it is P297.99. In the National Capital Region, the figures are P68.51 per individual per day and P342.56 for a family of five. 3. ARMM continues to be the region with the highest incidence of poverty. 48.6% of its families are poor. NCR continues to be the region with the lowest incidence of poverty. 2.7% of its families are poor. 4. 7 of the 10 provinces with the highest poverty incidence can be found in Mindanao.

    considered poor? PSA
    Persons are considered poor when their income
    falls below the poverty threshold. The poverty
    threshold refers to the minimum
    income/expenditure required for a
    family/individual to meet the basic food and nonfood requirements.

    How does the government


    compute for the poverty
    threshold?
