This story is about a dream of an old man

who left China and move to Singapore


with his brother after the Japanese
colonization. His brother returned to China
as he has the dream to build the new
china. The old man who is the narrators
father still has the guilt for not returning
back to his hometown. This made the old
man kept telling his family about the
beauty of China. His daughter who
believed in his story return to China and
visited her uncles family. After the visit,
she changed her perception towards
China and her uncle.

-many people migrated to seek for a
better life.
-they face many difficulties in stabilizing
their life
-rise of patriotism ( can be seen in the
character of the narrators uncle that
want to return to China to build a new
China)
