REASONS FOR ENTERING IN CELLPHONE MARKET


If we break the COG(cost of good) of cell phone
1. Actual raw material
2. Profit to component manufacturer (Invensense,
Qualcomm)
3. Profit to assembler (Foxcon, etc.)
4. Profit to designer (LG, HTC, etc.)
5. Profit for the brand (Samsung, HTC, etc.)
6. Profit for the software developer
Google has incrementally expanded to reduce the cost of
the device
It started with Android(#6),then Nexus(#5) , now
internally designed Nexus Phones (#4)
Assemblers have razor thin profit so Google not pursuing
(#3).

Huawei, which manufactures Google's Nexus
smartphone, shipped 27.5 million handsets
during the quarter for 8.2 percent market share
Its market share was 5.2 percent one year ago
Googles target is to extend its reach by
bringing more users on its platform
Android leads in OS and in Apps too
