Engage Diversity and Difference in Practice

Practice behavior 2.1

Apply and communicate understanding of the importance of diversity and

difference in shaping life experiencing in practice at the micro, mezzo , and

macro level
While observing the assessment process I notice that my instructor interacted
with the patient by providing a demographic questionnaire for the patient to
answer to get an better understanding of resources and services that they
lack. ( Micro level) If needs can not be met by cape fear valley they offer
other community services and resources which is provided by other
organization and agency outside of Cape Fear Valley (mezzo). Cape fear
Valley also involves the government assistance for example such things as
wic and foot stamps question are ask as well just to get a better
understanding of the household environment (macro level)

Practice Behavior 2.2

Present themselves as learners and engage clients and

constituencies as experts of their own experiences.

Patients at Cape Fear Valley often are ask by social workers
to get a collection of demographic information to get a
better understanding of the patients household situation by
making sure its a safe environment for patient and infant to
be discharge to.

Practice Behavior 2.3

Apply self-awareness and self regulation to manage the

influence of personal biases and values in working with

diverse clients and constituencies.
While observing my instructor I notice their were a lot of
other races who native language were different my
instructor and I had to be careful with our approach toward
certain there are some patients you have to learn how to
address differently.
