Context: started 5 years ago, initially in writing
then a wider range of subjects (e.g. reading,
professional skills, some ESP subjects)
What weve gained agreed with those discussed
by Brown & Hudson (1998, p.664):

Focus students attention on learning processes


Foster students process of practice and revision
Better inform teacher of students language growth
Enhance student & teacher involvement in assessment

Clarification of the problems:
Teachers decide the content of portfolios
learner-centeredness / students motivation?
Training of teachers to make fair interpretations of
students portfolio is needed (Brown & Hudson,
1998; Vosicki, 2012; Fiktorius, 2013)
inter-rater reliability / standardization of rating &
grading processes?
