 The purpose of our focus

group was to show some of
our target audience our
music video and receive
constructive criticism to help
improve it. We presented our
focus group presentation to a
selection of our family and
friends that both conformed
and subverted the
demographic of our target
audience to ensure the
information we received
wasnt biased and gave us a
true representation of what's
good and what needs to be
improved. We also gave out
questionnaires at the end
where some described our
video as great however
multiple participants said
there could have been more
performance shots

taken mid way through the screening of my music
video.

After the screening of my music

video a lot of the target
audience said we need
performance shots in order to
make it more engaging. To
improve I will record some
performance shots and add
them in to make it appeal more
to the audience. The audience
said it was to random and didnt
make sense and although this
conforms to Frederick Jamesons
theory that music videos are
random without meaning, they
didnt approve. I will also cut out
some of the beach shots as the
sky is grey and it doesnt
conform to the summer
atmosphere built up throughout.
I am also considering applying a
filter to some of the shots to
enhance the colours and
brightness as it would connote

In the focus group we

went through the
different stages of
planning and production
to give them an insight
of the thought process
behind the shots and
video itself. We decided
to go for a tropical house
song as we thought it
would appeal more to our
target audience which
was young people. The
feedback we received on
our song choice was all
round positive even from
the older demographic.
My group are also
planning to reshoot some
shots that dont look as
professional as others
and we will be adding
more fast motion shots
to signify the party
