LITERAL MEANING
The poet sees a dead crow
lying in a drain
Then he goes to a clinic and
sees an old man and a baby
having breathing problems
He ask why there should be
so much suffering in a wealthy
country.
FREE VERSE
Definition-The poet is free to choose whether
or not to use rhyme or a natural rhythm which
does not follow a set pattern.
Example:He saw a dead crow
in a drain
near the Post Office,
He saw an old man
gasping for air
And a baby barely able to breathe
In a crowded morning clinic
This land is so rich
Why should we suffer like this?
DEVICES
Sound effects:
1.Alliteration-The same sound starts a
series of words or syllables
-And a baby barely able to breathe
2.Assonance-The repetition of vowel
sounds, which may add to euphony
-in a drain
3. Onomatopoeia- Words which
represent a sound.
Symbolic-Symbolism means
something that stands for something,
that can be interpreted as meaning
something like justice, anger,
betrayal.
I want the damned fools
To leave the forest alone,
Moral Significance-save our mother
nature.
