Hydronium Ion
A positively charged ion formed when an acid dissolve in
water. (H3O+)

Hydroxide Ion
A negatively charged ion that is formed when a base
dissolves in water. (OH-)

Acid
A substance that produces a hydronium ion when
dissolved in water.

Base
A substance that produces hydroxide ions when dissolved
in water.

pH
pH is an inverse measure of hydronium ions in a solution.

pH Scale
A scale used to indicate how acidic or how basic a
solution is.

Indicator
A compound that changes color at different pH values
when it reacts with acidic or basic solutions.
