Chapter 4:interpendence among

living organisms and the environment

Name:chin hau yik

Teacher name:pn Tan Gim
Ding

*The importance of interaction between

living organisms and the environment

1.To maintain the

balance of ecosystem
2.to maintain the size
of population in an
ecosystem

The role of living organisms in an

environment

1.producer:producer are green

plant that produce food to plant
during photosynthesis
2.consumer:are living organisms
that eat each other
3.decomposer:are living
organisms that break down dead
organisms into simpler
substances.

* Animal which is extinct

Dodo bird

Passanger bird

Sea mink

Tecopa puffish

Javan tiger

Caribean monk snail

The reason the animal had

extinct

Destruction of Habitat
Humans destroy precious habitat--the natural
environment of a living thing--when they fill swamps
and marshes, dam rivers and cut down trees to build
homes, roads and other developments.
Pollution
Oil spills, acid rain and water pollution have been
devastating for many species of fish and birds.
Hunting and Fishing
Many animals are over-hunted because their meat, fur
and other parts are very valuable.
Exotic Species
When animals or plants arrive into a new habitat from
a foreign place they sometimes introduce diseases
that the native species can't fight. These "exotic"
species can also prey on the native species.

The advantages of biological control

1.Do not pollute the environment
2. Cost effective over the long term
3.Do not affect non targeted living
organisms

*The disadvantages of
biological contol

1.The result is unpredictable.

2.The result is not instant.it takes time
3.The intoduction of new spesies of living
organisms mat upset the balance of
ecosystem.

* The meanning of
photosynthesis

Is a process where
in which green
plant use light to
make their own
food.
