Anjana shalaka

Anjana vidhi
Ask the patient to sit on a chair in a room
which is devoid of breeze
Open the eyelid with the left hand
Apply the anjana into the inner surface of the
eyelid with the help of anjana shalaka
Then ask the patient to rotate eye, this
spreads the medicine to all parts
Advise the patient should not close, squeeze,
rub his eyes
Then eye should be washed with water
Advise teekshna dhoomapana

TARPANA AND PUTAPAKA VIDHI

Tarpana vidhi
Ask the patient to lie on a cot which is devoid
of breeze
A wall is constructed with the paste of masha
around the eye orbit with a height of 2 angula
Ask the patient to close his eyes
Then prescribed medicine like taila,ghrita,vasa
& majja should be poured into the well, till eye
lashes are completely immersed.
Ask the patient to open his eyes slowly &
advised not to be blink the eyes

100 matra-- Vartmagata roga


300 matra Sandhigata roga
500 matraSita roga(sweta mandala)
700 matra Asita roga(krishna mandala)
800 matraDrustigata
1000 matraAdhimantha (glaucoma)
1000 600-500 matravata,pitta,kapha
respectively

After the prescribed duration medicine should


be removed through a hole done at the outer
canthus of the eye
After this wash the eyes with a cloth dipped in
a hot water (mild swedana)
Avoid bright light during the course of treatment
In vata roga-- advise daily
In pittajaalternate day
In kaphaja interval of 2 days till symptoms are
relived

majja, vasa with milk & Jeevaniya
gana dravya
Lekhana- Which is prepared with Liver
& meat of Birds, Ayasa (Iron) Tamra
(Copper) Saindhava lavana,
Srotonjana with Mastu
( wheat powder )
Prasadana- Which is prepared with
Antra & Heart of a birds , madura
dravya, gritha , godugdha & stanya

Preparation of Puta paka oushadhi


(Swarasa)
Meat of animals & drugs are made into paste &
make into bolus ( round mass ) a size of bilwa
fruit ( 1 pala )
Then it is wrapped with leaves of vata, eranda etc
big leaves
It is tied with threads
Then externally it is pasted with mud about 1
angula in thickness
It is kept for dryness under the shade
this bolus is kept in a puta ( cow dung cakes ) &
give it fire
When it becomes red hot it is to be removed from
puta & remove all coverings & squeeze it for

Yantra karma

1.Swasthika Yantra ( 24 )
These are 18 angula in length
Resembles the face of Simha, vygrah,
kanka (heron) bear, kaka (crow) & other animals &
birds
Two pieces are held together by a rivet at the neck
The root of the instrument is bent like an ankusha
for holding properly
these are used for removing the shalya from bones
These are forceps with central rivet
Artery forceps, pile holding forceps etc

2.Sandamsha yantra
These are two types
1. Sanigraha sandamsha yantra
(forceps with tooth)
2. Anigraha sandamsha yantra
(forceps without tooth)
. These are 16 angula in length used
for extracting shalya from skin ,
muscles , ligaments & veins

Muchuti yantra ( ringed


forceps )
This is small forcep 6 angula in
length
Which is straight & having tooth
A ring is attached to its end
movement of this forwards acts as a
catch to hold the tissue
This is used for extraction of
necrosed & dead tissue , maggots &
shalya from deep wounds

3. Tala yantra ( spoon or


spatula )
Thses are 12 angula in length
resembling the talu of a fish ( plate
shaped or spoon )
These are 2 in no
1. ekatala ( one tala at its mouth
2. dwitala ( two tala at both the
ends
It is used extraction of shalya like
wax, insects, pus & shalya from ear,
nose

4. Nadi yantra ( tubular instruments )


They are 20 in no
these are of 2 types
1. Opening in one side &2 opening in both sides
. These are hollow instruments like nadi
. These are used as
. 1)Srotogata shalyoddharanaartham-Removal of foreign
body present in different passages.
. 2) Roga darshanaartham- Inspecting disease
. 3) Aachooshanaartham- For aspiration.
. 4) Kriyaa soukaryartham- Carring out different surgical
procedures.
. 5) In disease- Bhangandara, Arshas,
. 6) In procedures-Uttara-basti, Dhooma.

ARSHO YANTRA
It is made up of metals, horn, wood.
etc.
4 angula in length, 5 angula in
circumference.
It is of 2 types 1 with two openings
2 with one opening.
It is used for examination of
arsha,bhagandara.

diseases like Pothaki ( trachoma) ,
Shundika (Tonsillitis )

It is used in gambhira shotha(elevated
swelling)

It is used for extracting small shalya ,
nakha chedana, bhedana ( incision ),
pracchanna ( venesection ), lekhana

Suchi needles

Needle is as thick as a stalk of a jasmine

shape & called
as round body needles
these are used for suturing mamsa
(fleshy parts )
2. Straight these are 2 angula in length
& used for suturing vrana & boney joints
3. Triangular it is called as cutting
needle in modern it is 21/2 angula in
length, used for suturing intestine,
stomach etc
