Research statement

Explain how your research statement is connected with the

macroproject.
My research interest focuses on language teaching practices of an English
teacher and how he managed to teach and interact including and despite
the challenges, difficulties, as well as the resources he make use of, more
exactly from the Island of San Andres.
Describe evidences of the research statement.
Describe the life history information and challenges from the start to the
end of his learning process by understanding his attitude and behavior and
how he was influenced by the initial decisions made to study and teach EFL.

Justification

Synthesize four or five arguments to sustain your research. Follow the

directions provided through the feedback of this exercise.
A good justification provides the arguments below:
I consider that this research is necessary to be done in the region because
of the context and scenario in which is taking place, this is the Island of
San Andres. Here are some of the reasons or facts that support my
research,
The main idea here is have a personal encounter with Ender, as he does
have a reality to talk about, his experience, the relationship between what
he is saying and other involved in his story like students, teachers, the
environment in which he carry out his experience and the historical and
chronological series of events.
This research started with a research journey and questions about
distance learning from San Andres Island. I became intrigued to learn from
a teacher who has been there and done that process before on how they
manage to learn and teach a second language from the Archipelago with
so many setbacks and difficulties. I then focus on the tensions,
experiences among which we can mention access and accessibility.
End the justification with your main research question. The research
question is the interrogative form of the main research objective.

Theoretical support

Write minimum two authors that support your research statement.

Present the construct, that is to say, what you are going to investigate
in Language teaching and learning.

This slide must include references by using APA style, for example:
Language interaction, (Yufrizal, H., 2011).

Explain how the literature you revised supports your research

statement, also in relation to the macroproject.

Pedagogical design
(Intervention)

Students working under the macroproject of Innovative Pedagogy

should present:

The approach or methodology (Didactics) to support the

pedagogical plan through action research, OR
The mediation through an e-took to foster a specific component of
English: skills, interaction, literacy, etc.

Write the reference to support the approach or the mediation through

ICT.
Write the pedagogical aim or goal of your pedagogical plan.

Specific Objectives

Write the specific objectives, which should be connected with the research
statement and the main objective.
Write maximum three specific objectives. Do not formulate them
in terms of:
Improve/ help/support

Revise the glossary of verbs that describe research objectives:

Describe, understand, comprehend, design, implement,
encourage,
promote,
establish,
determine,
reflect,
characterize, categorize, classify.

enhance,
interpret,

Research Design

Write the research design that supports the methodology you will follow to
investigate your research statement.

Remember in our B.A program we have established:

Narrative inquiry (macroproject of socioacademic experiences in
ELT and Learning), OR
Action Research (macroproject of innovative pedagogy in English
Teaching and Learning).
Case study*, as a research design you can use it to support the
description of a context with particular characteristics and situations.
Also, a case study may follow an action research plan or from a case
you identify in the research context, you can do narrative research.

You should select only one research design.

From the steps or procedure of each research design, explain how you
understand the methodological procedure to investigate your research
statement.

Research Design: Data collection

Describe the participants of your research.

Introduce the data collection instruments to implement through your

research. Follow the guidelines below.
How many instruments?-Three that could help you accomplish the specific
objectives.

Research design: _____________

Data collection instruments
Examples: Observation formats, semistructured interviews, teachers diary or
journal, narrative frames, biographical writing,
life-stories frames, classroom artifacts
(students production in class), videos, online
activities done in a virtual setting.

Purpose of collecting information

References

Write the references you read through the course.

Write the references that orient your research design and the ones that
support your research statement.
