OBJECTIVE
To determine the effect of addition of
plastics (in form of scissors-cut strips
from plastic bottles) to the soil
originated from Batangas City in
terms of compaction and moisturedensity ratio.
(Note: Plastics are added to soil with
known percentage (2%, 5%, 8%) with
accordance to the weight)

Soil extraction and sampling

Three places along Batangas City are

the respective sites for sampling

namely Alangilan, Libjo and Banaba.

Soil properties
Soil properties are conducted to

determine the significant differences

on the three soils.
Test conducted: moisture content,
determination of specific gravity

Combination of soils
Since the soil are originated along

Batangas City, the three samples are

combined so that the desired data
for the Batangas City soil can be
attained. Note that the soil samples
are measured proportionally, such
that 1/3 weight for every kind of soil.

plastic bottles.
Brand name neglected.
Size of strips are from the advice of
the soil technician on testing
laboratory.

of the following:
5 kg of plain soil
5 kg of soil mixture with 2% plastic
5 kg of soil mixture with 5% plastic
