Content Objective: (k) 4.3 -Use five senses to investigate the natural
world

Nevada Standards: L.2.B.1.- Students know humans and other


animals use their senses to know their world.

Language Objective: The students will complete a recording sheet, a


my five senses journal worksheet, and a five senses quiz on day two.

This lesson will be taught in two days. The context of this lesson fits
into the curriculum at the beginning of the science unit.

Warm Up Activity:
What do you know
about your senses?
I will call on students to
participate and fill in the
blanks. The first five
students will place the
sight, hear, taste, smell,
and touch labels in the
correct place. The
participants will write what

following vocabulary
words on the
worksheet handed to
you.

Sight: Our eyes let us see things around


us.

Hearing: We use our ears to hear sounds.

Touch: We can feel things with our hands


or other parts of our bodies.

Smell: We smell things using our nose.

Group Activity
o

Everyone is going to get into five groups


of five, and stand by the section
assigned to you with the journal provided
to you.

You have two minutes to observe what


you see, smell, feel, hear, or taste. Then
you will switch stations counter clock
wise.

Dont forget to write down what you


observe.
