Most premium service of the Department for delivery
Available for both retail and contractual customers
Speed Post is market leader in premium delivery
segment in terms of volume being handled
Minimum chargeable weight is 50 gm and maximum
weight for booking is 35 Kg
Available for both documents and merchandise
Speed Post charges refunded in case of nonadherence of delivery standards
In case of loss or damage of the article compensation
is payable

Cash-on-delivery facility is available as value added
service on

Business parcels

Facility available only to contractual customers


Maximum amount for remittance is Rs. 50000/-per
consignment and Minimum value is Rs. 60/ Amount to be remitted not to be in fraction of Rupee
Insurance is optional irrespective of the amount of

COD - Features
COD is only for Contractual Customers Retail
Customers can continue to use VP Service
Registration of the Customer in Parcel Net/ Speed
Net is a pre condition for COD Customer
The amount to be collected on delivery is the COD
amount noted on the article
MO Commission should not be collected.

Remittance of COD Amount takes place


automatically through ePayment System .
After delivery and accounting , the COD amount will be
transmitted to the payment Post Office for payment to
the sender

COD
Though there is lot of revenue potential in COD
parcel business, key to success is, effective
delivery of COD article with professionalism
Here comes the role of Postman, who are treated
as face of the organization
Prompt delivery of COD articles by Postman will
not only ensure building trust and relation with the
customer but also bring huge revenue.
The customer who has booked the article in a online portal will be eagerly waiting for the arrival of
the article. Delay in delivery will not be tolerated

As Postman, it is very important to understand
the emotions and sentiments of the customers
Postman is not only delivering physical goods
but also joy and happiness bringing smiles on
customer faces
COD business cannot be imagined without
Postman/Delivery agent as they act as an
important link in connecting traders and buyers
Sincere efforts by delivery staff is always
appreciated not only by department but also by
public

Delivery of CoD article by Postman


Articles with value upto Rs. 10000/- should be taken
for delivery by Postman
Articles with value more than Rs. 10000, intimation
should be served through postman. Article will be
delivered at window of the PO
Check the CoD article with delivery slip w.r.t. address
with Pincode, CoD amount etc.,
Check whether the address is in your beat
If not, bring it to the notice of Supervisor for necessary
action
Receive the CoD article along with intimation after
giving acquittance in the office copy of the delivery
slip.

Delivery of CoD article by Postman


Proper care has to be taken for handling of CoD
article
Deliver the article to addressee or his agent after
collecting the CoD amount
Please note that, only CoD amount need to be
collected and not the MO Commission
Get the signature of the addressee or his authorized
agent in list as well as in the intimation slip.
CoD amount collected should be handed over to the
treasurer after obtaining acquittance in Postman
Book

Delivery of CoD article by Postman


In case if the article is not deliverable for any reason on the
first day, serve the Intimation slip
A remarks should be made in the delivery slip w.r.t. to
intimation served and time should be noted
Second attempt should be made to deliver the CoD article on
the next day
Only standard remarks to be made on article and List (A list of
Standard Remarks is given in next slide)
If article could not be delivered on the second day, can be
kept in deposit upto 7 days from the date of delivery of
intimation slip
In case if COD article can not be delivered it should be
returned to sender. Please note that, CoD article can not be
redirected.

Tips for Delivering COD articles


Call the customer by collecting phone number
written on the article
Greet the customer, introduce yourself and inform
about the arrival of the COD article and ask customer
to keep the amount ready
Meet the customer at his convenient time and deliver
the article by collecting COD amount
If the article is not delivered on the first day for any
reason, serve the intimation slip
Inform the customer or inmates in the address about
that you are bringing the article on next day also

Tips for Delivering COD articles


Inform the customer about availability of window
delivery system at Post Office
Before receiving the article, please check for the good
condition of the article
Please handle the articles with utmost care, till the
articles get delivered
Honesty and Integrity is two important things which
are needed for public service
Prompt and genuine attempt should be made to
deliver the COD article
If possible, try to deliver the article at customers
convenient place and time
