LEADERSHIP STYLES IN THE MILITARY

This report is on the changes of leadership styles in the military This article comes
from your business.azcentral.com. T

This article discusses three leadership styles of Transactional, Transformational and

Servant leadership used by the military and how businesses of day try to emulate
them. Transactional leadership as stated simply removes the guesswork from
subordinated and sets a clear guide on objectives for them to follow.
Transformational leadership motivates and inspires personnel with quick decisive
thinking in the application in changing environments. Servant leadership in where
the rubber meets the road, where actual decisions are implemented in the changing
environment and the desired results are completed. Modern businesses of today
would like try to emulate these types of traits in their personnel. The difficulty with
this type of leadership is having all personnel buy into that form of thinking.

Transactional leadership

Transformational Leadership

Servant Leadership

With this type of leadership applied in todays military the

evidence is seen with the decisive outcomes throughout
modern military efforts. Its no wonder why businesses of
today wish to emulate their efforts.

leadership needs of the people and the organization.

The discussion refers to Visionary, Coaching, Affiliative,

Democratic Pacesetting and Commanding leadership styles,
their commonality and their differences. How a leader can use
each style for whatever the needs are. It states that the leader
should not be using them as wardrobes but must adapt to the
different styles needed for whatever their situation dictates and
having that reach-back knowledge to apply to business of today.
