The Weeping

Women
by Pablo Picasso

Description
The work of art called the Weeping Women was made in
1937 by Pablo Picasso . The painting is of a woman with
long hair with a bow on her head , and she is crying. The
art of work was made to show how woman were suffering
because of the Spanish war. The art of work was made
using oil paint. Picasso used organic and geometric
shapes to form the woman. He used light and dark
versions of colors to show were light is not shining which
is the element of value. The element of line was used to
make up the hair of the women. He used dark and warm
to show color.

Analysis
The elements used in the work of art made up a united
piece of work. The painting was very balanced it didnt
have to much of any element. The work of art also had
some patterns around the mouth area, which help the
painting look more interesting.

Interpretation
The reason that Pablo Picasso made the art work was to
show how much the women were suffering, because of the
Spanish war. The art work is showing darkness and
sadness, because all the men and children are going to
fight the Spanish war while. The evidence the supports my
statement is that the women is crying which shows
sadness, then what shows darkness is the dark colors.

Evaluation
The painting came out to be a good piece of work. The
criteria that is important is how the artist showed what he
was trying to show. The artist was trying to show sadness
and darkness, so he made the women crying then used
dark colors to show his point. In my believe the art work
had good quality that made the art work successful.
