Introduction
The Department increasingly receives patients
with grave surgical disorders particularly related
to trauma.
It is well equipped for carrying out routine minor
and major surgical procedures.
It has the necessary infrastructure for tertiary
level care of surgical patients with back up of
clinical and basic departments.
Introduction
It has highly trained surgeons with necessary
expertise to conduct advanced surgical
procedures.
More than Five hundred surgical operations are
performed by Department of General Surgery
every month.
The operation theatres currently used for these
procedures are three in number.
Structure
General Surgery Department consists of Two wards,
an OPD, Operation Theatre, Surgical ICU, and
Emergency.
There are four Units
Each Unit is headed by Professor/ Associate
Professor.
Work burden is equally distributed among the units
Each unit has its own OPD, OT, Emergency, Ward
days.

Overall unit is headed by Chairman Department of General
Surgery.

Distribution of work
Daily OPD to cater 300 plus patient on daily basis.
Daily Emergency to cater 100 plus patients.
Wards comprising of 82 beds with additional 30
stretchers filled all weeks.
Operation Theatres days are distributed on daily basis
to each unit with emergency theatre also running on
daily basis.
