Adjectives

We use adjective to describe nouns

(people, animals, places and things)
An adjective can tell us more about
nouns

1. Adjectives that

a) show colour, size and shape (descriptive

adjectives)
examples: red rose, small hut, square box
b) show qualities
examples: clever girl, obedient child, happy
baby
c) show possession (possessive adjectives)
examples: my book, her pen, their house

d) refer to an individual (distributive

adjectives)
example: Each gift was wrapped with a
coloured paper.
e) show location of the object
(demonstrative adjectives)
example: Those chairs over there.

2. Adjectives can be changed into negative

forms by adding prefixes
