Objectives
The student will be able to
understand the importance and legal basis

of informed consent.
provide patient with accurate and complete
information about certain medical procedure
make an agreement with patient to fill
informed consent form

Word informed means had been given,

had been explained or had been

Word consent means approval or

permission
Informed Consent is an approval from the
patient or the family member about a
medical procedure for the patients self
or a family member after being given
adequate explanation by the doctor

Risk from avoiding the procedure required

consent or sign an agreement is
adult patient (over 21 years old or
married) in good mental health

Witness
Witness is required to provide
security and legality of Informed
Consent. Witness is family member
and hospital official.
