Following the Gujarat Model, Government of India has directed all


States to organize Recruitment Fairs, by its letter D.O. No.
D.O.No.DG/JS Misc./2008 dated 24th July 2008

à Placement Advisory Bureaus (PAB) have been started in 37 Centre of
Excellence ITIs during the year 2007-08 and 2008-09.
à Career guidance, personality development advice, C V writing, job interview
related guidance are provided through PABs to students of ITIs.
à Career Counselors are available for one to one counseling to the students.
à Newspaper cuttings of job vacancies are displayed in notice boards and
assistance provided to students in making job applications by PA Bureau office.
à Computers with internet connection are available in PAB for access to
employment related information: job search, online job application, etc.
à Campus Interviews are organised by the Placement Advisory Bureaus
à Every Placement Bureau has got an employee from employment exchange to
deliver necessary employment related service to the ITI students.
à Career guidance related newspapers, magazines and books available in PABs.
à PAB maintains bio-data of trainees pass out of ITIs and assists students to find
suitable jobs in the industry.
à Placement Advisory Bureau contacts the passed out trainees whenever job
vacancies, notices, advertisements, etc. come to their knowledge
à Government of India has informed all States to set-up similar Placement Cell in
all ITIs in India by its letter DGE&T-19(28) / 2007-CD dated 2nd June 2008

à Construction sector contributes 5% to India¶s GDP,
à 3 crore persons work in construction sector
à Construction sector is the second largest
employment provider (after agriculture) in India.
à Most of the people who join construction industry
come from low income groups and start as
unskilled labourers who learn through practice on-
site.

construction sector.
à This is primarily due to lack of adequate vocational
training facilities in the construction sector.
à Directorate of Employment & Training (Gujarat
State) in partnership with Larsen & Toubro (L& T)
started Construction Skill Training Centres (CSTC)
in 12 ITIs
à CSTC will benefit people from low income groups
by enhancing their skills and increasing their
'- income.

For all above courses the course fee is Rs. 50/- per Month.
Trainees with an annual income of Rs. 36,000 and
below from urban areas and those with an annual
income of Rs. 27,000 and below from rural areas, are
given daily allowance of Rs. 100. Such trainees are
exempted from paying tuition fees, exam fees and
certification fees. Since CSTC was started in December
2008, till now around 2000 persons have been trained
and more then 1000 persons are undergoing training.

à Motor Driving Training Schools have
been started in 17 ITIs in different
districts with the aim to provide good
quality training at affordable price and to
promote safe driving practices and help
trainees to get jobs through I.T.I.
certification
à Maruti 800 cars have provide at all these
17 I.T.I. for best quality driving practice
à Master Trainers of these 17 Motor
Training Schools have been given
intensive 10 days training by Western
India Automobile Association (WIAA).
à Till now around 3744 persons have been
trained and more then 170 persons are
undergoing training.
