 HOW WLL DIFFERING THAN CELLULAR?

CELLULER- MOBILE TELEPHONE ACCESS SYSTEM
WIRELESS IN LOCAL LOOP SYSTEM
Wireless Local Loop

TYPES OF WLL

 WLL WITH LIMITED MOBILITY.

 WLL, WITH LINE-FWT SERVICE

Wireless Local Loop
 How WLL works... (using
cdma tech.)
TECHCHNICAL REQUIREMENTS
OF WLL SYSTEM

 Communications quality

 Low cost

 Absence of interference with other

wireless systems

 High traffic volume

Capacity and Spectral Efficiency

 channel pay load (bit rate)

 signaling overhead
 modulation efficiency
 cell-radius (range)
 choice of multiple access
Channel pay load (bit rate)
 voice communications at 32 kbps / 64
kbps .Besides PCM.

 32 kbps ADPCM give large degree of

transparency for other communication
services like fax communications.
Signaling overhead

 As signaling is key to setting up,

monitoring and tearing down of a
call, signaling communications need
to be carried out on air between
subscriber equipment and the base
stations.
Modulation efficiency

 QPSK or even BFSK techniques are

often used even though their spectral
efficiency is moderate.
Cell-radius (range)

 cell radius plays the dominant role in

determining the subscriber density given a
certain frequency spectrum. In other
words, a smaller cell radius is the key to
efficient use of spectrum and one may
have to use cell radius as small as 500m,
if one desires a reasonable subscriber
density.
Choice of multiple access

 The access technique defines how the

frequency spectrum is divided into
channels and affects reuse of the
channels.
 FDMA
 TDMA
 CDMA
 MC-TDMA
Advantages
 Existing landline operators can extend
their network with WLL
 Cellular operators can capitalize on their
current network to deliver residential
service with WLL
 The CDMA digital interface also allows for
a number of complex and unique
features
Comparison with GSM

Futures.
 Space-Time processing
• Smart Antennas
• Transmit Diversity
• Spatial Multiplexing
• Space-Time Coding

 3G- Terrestrial Wireless

Standards
Conclusion.

 It is expected that with the advent of 3G

wireless standards, not only will greater bit-
rates be delivered to mobile users, but
there will be a substantial improvement in
the bit-rates and services for fixed wireless
applications like the local loop and
broadband to home as well.
