COMPETENCY 2:1

The dimensions of diversity are understood as the


intersectionality of multiple factors including age,
class, color, culture, disability, ethnicity, gender,
gender identity and expression, immigration status,
political ideology, race, religion, and sexual
orientation
COMPETENCY 2:6

As a school social worker, I work with families and


children of different races , cultures, and age.

For example, I am working with a young boy, who


does not want to attend school.
Working with the parents to put services into place to
help with the childs behavior
Working with teen with felony charges

Diversity competence is an importance aspect of


social work practice
As a social worker, I must respect and value the
ethnicity and culture of the client
COMPETENCY 2:8

For example: Working with a child and family in which


the mother is a lesbian
As a professional Social Worker, I must not allow my

personal opinions, beliefs and values to interfere with


meeting the needs of the client
