It is important to have your combination memorized. You only get a few minutes to move from
one class to another and you will save time if you dont need to look up your combination each
time. That being said, it takes time and effort to get there.
We are going to go over some tips and tricks to remember your combination. You will need to
keep your combination in a safe place till you memorize the numbers. Your combination is
private so make sure nobody sees your combination. Never give out your locker combination,
even to your very best friend. You may regret it! Ask anybody over thirty and they will say they
have had a fight with a best friend

It may take some time to memorize your combination or you may have a lapse before the
school year starts. Here are some ideas.
In each of your notebooks or binders, write down your combination as an addition problem. So
if your combination was 17/5/37, you would write it as 17+5+37. Make up a rhyme to memorize
it. Let's say your combination is 1/44/7: 1 o'clock, 2 o'clock, 44 o'clock, seven even weaven to
heaven. Strange, but it works. Write the combination in your backpack. Just in case you forget
it, write it in Sharpie on the inside of your backpack.

There's another easy way to remember your lock combination: simply remember when your
birthday is. Thats right. Everyone remembers their own birthday!
All you need is a Sharpie. Say your birthday is: 10 / 13 / 77 and your lock combination is 19 /
22 / 41. You would write with your Sharpie on the back of the lock this code: 29/ 35 / 118 (which
is from 10+19 / 13+22 / 77+41) In order to recover the combination, this is what you're
looking at: (29-10=19 / 35-13=22 / 118-77=41).

Technology can be a helper too. If you have a cell phone, type in your locker number and save
it as a contact in your phonebook. For the name however, don't put locker # (people might
snoop around on your phone and read it)! Instead, make up a name, example Mr. L. N. (for Mr.
Locker Number) or Mrs. Lockhart (Lockhart). There is also a site on the internet that stores
lock combinations. You can store it on the Master Lock (brand of a lock) secure site for free :
www.combolocker.com. This helps if you plan to use the same lock year after year and forget
the combination over the summer.

Locker accessories are fun, but they can also be practical. Shelves, small white boards, and
stick-on containers can help you stay organized at school.
Small containers can hold pens, markers, highlighters or paperclips. Larger can hold supplies
such as a small notepad, a mini-stapler, or perhaps a composition book.
Gym clothes should be brought home as soon as possible, in order to keep the locker smelling
fresh and clean. Encourage your tween to bring gym clothes home at the end of every week for
laundering.
The key to keeping a locker organized is to clear out unwanted papers, tests, and other items
at least once a week.

It may be tempting to go al out and decorate your locker with elaborate decorations.
Locker decorating is fun, but the primary purpose of a school locker is to hold your
belongings and keep you organized,
Decorations should not take up a lot of space, and that there should be plenty of room
left for his books, backpack, lunchbox, coat, gym uniform and other necessary items.
You can use magazine art, postcards, and homemade art work can make a small space
look great. Birthday cards, photos of family and friends, and pictures printed off the
Internet are also inexpensive decorations.

School lockers have a habit of getting stuck, especially if the locker is stuffed with books, gym
clothes, a coat, a backpack and other school items. If you can't open his or her locker, it might be
necessary to call in the maintenance staff.
Keep a few extra school supplies in the locker, such as notebook paper, pens, pencils, and
composition books.
Lockers aren't the place to keep valuable items or a lot of cash. You can keep an extra $5 or $10 in
his or her locker, to pay for lunch or emergency school supplies from the school store, but avoid
keeping jewelry, expensive sporting items and other valuables in a school locker.
