WHAT IS ADDICTION?
Addiction is a multiplex disease, which affects
the functioning of the brain and body. It also
damages family members, relationships, and
overall the way of life. Having an addiction is a
compulsive physical need for and use of a
habit-forming substance or an activity/action.
TYPES OF ADDICTION
The most common addiction there is are
drugs and alcohol and many other drug
related substances. But an addiction does not
necessary need to be related towards the
drugs or alcohol but other equally dangerous
activities and substances like shopping
addiction, eating disorders, plastic surgery
addiction, video game addiction and many
more.
SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS
They are certain traits having an addiction causes and shows,
from the beginning to the withdraw, the victim passes trough
many painful phases. Some of the symptoms and signs are:
Not able to control the use of that substance
Arguments/fights with family members/ friends
Irritable mood, depression, or mood swings and trembling
hands
Continuing use of the substance/drug in order to feel normal,
relax, happy, sleep.
CAUSES OF ADDICTION AND
RISK FACTORS
Certain situations and history can decide the faith of an addictive, either
it speeds up the proses in which you become addictive or it opens your
eyes to see the real dangers of being addictive. Some factors that

Having a mental health disorder
Peer pressure
Lack of family involvement
Anxiety, depression and loneliness
The environment you live in
PROCESS OF BECOMING
ADDICTED
Stage One: First use which determines if you'll continue to
use it or not
Stage Two: Regular Use, constantly using/doing the
activity/drug
Stage Three: Substance Abuse/Risky Behavior, continuing
using the substance/action regularly into becoming
addictive.
Stage Four: Addiction, cant function without it, gets
desperate without it
REHABILITATION
Rehabilitationis the act of restoring something to
its original state, in this case when you go to rehab
you are there to try and recover from the damage
you made to your body and end the addiction.
Rehab can be really hard for certain people, the
withdraw of the drug/activity is painful physically
and mentally but with the right mind set and help
they can overcome a the addiction.
CONCLUSION
In conclusion, addictions affect the victim both physically and mentally. The
addiction also is painful for the family members and close friends of the victim
since they have to see their friend go through the painful ride. An important thing
to know about addiction is to not wait for rock bottom to hit you and get help as
soon as possible. Getting caught in an addiction is very hard and once you are in
too deep its hard to go back but, with good help and will the victim can overcome
the addiction.
