Ellen Ochoa NASA astronaut

The person I chose for this project is the first Hispanic

astronaut named Ellen Lauri Ochoa. She was born on May 10, 1958 and
is 58 years old. She grew up in Los Angeles, California with her both
parents, Rosanne Ochoa, and Joseph Ochoa. Ellen got married in 1990
with another astronaut named Coe Fulmer Miles; they met while
studying at San Diego State University. While her studies there, her
occupations are engineering and astronomy. In her teen years, she
studied at Grossmont High School, Stanford University, and San Diego
State University.
An interview held with Ellen L. Ochoa, asked, why she wanted to be an
astronaut. ...I was growing up there were no female astronauts. It
wasn't until the first six female astronauts were selected in 1978 that
women could even think of it as a possible career path.
(Teacher.scholastics.com, pg. 1). I believe that her work relates to
science because they both have a connection to studying celestial
objects like the planets, and outer space.
Why I chose her:

I chose Ellen Ochoa because my brother had handed me a book that

had information about the first Hispanic people who recognized for
their work. She seemed like a great inspiration to me because she's
been having her greatest dream at a young age, and was able to get
her job. She doesn't really see at as a job, but as an
accomplishment.
Occupations
Her main occupation in NASA, was wanting to
be an Astronaut. At the age of six years old, she's
been dying to fly out of earth and study the moon
and stars. After she had found out that no women
was an astronaut back in her days, she decided to
step up her game and become one. On 2007, she
was the Deputy Director of Johnson Space Center
and became the first Hispanic female to become
the director of NASAs Johnson Space Center.
