1. STRATEGIC OBJECTIVE

1.1 To build and broaden the base in scarce and critical skills;
1.2 Massification/ Democratizing of training and educational development;
1.3 Enhance training in the workplace for an enabling and developmental
state.

2. 1 Schools Programme

Purpose: Out Reach(advocacy), marketing the bursary programme to


Grade 11 12 s to utilize in advancing careers in the Infrastructure
skills development namely; scarce and critical Engineering studies.

Activities: Career Exhibitions, Visiting Schools(institutions) and at


nodal points in Districts where a quantum of schools will be reached.

Selection Criteria: Grade 12

Duration of adoption: Not more than 1 day

2.2 Bursary Programme
Target / Criteria: Incumbent/Student must attain 60% (L 6) in
Mathematics (Pure Maths) and Physical Science .English as learning
language will be an added advantage.

Fields of Study: Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Project Management,


Architectural Sciences.Preferably Civil Engineering, Mechanical
Engineering and Electrical Engineering (Light current)

Bursary Value:
Full Time bursary is a 100% total cost to the Department;

Part- Time bursary is that employer pays tuition fees.

Bursary Obligation:
Based on a Return On Investment either by;
Doing Internship with any state entity,
Serve the state for at least three years after completing studies.

2.3 Internship Programme

Objectives:
To offer traditional graduate internships for persons who have completed a
qualification and require workplace experience in order to enhance future
employment opportunities.
To offer student internships for persons who are enrolled at a tertiary
education institution and required practical experience as part of their study
programme

Requirements: BDegree or National Diploma or
Studying towards a Diploma requiring experiential training

Criteria: Graduate and Student interns


Period: 12-18 Months
Training arrangements: Attending of courses relevant to their
programme
Performance Management:
Stipend: R 4 155.11- R 5094.92
Support interventions: Mentorship
Exit: No Exit Interviews
