Jemison..
Mea Jemison was born in Decatur,Alabama,and considers
Chicago,Illinois as her hometown.Jemison is interested in
traveling,photography,languages,etc.Mea has two siblings named
Charles Jemison and Ada Jemison Bullock and Mea is the youngest.When
she was three years old her family moved to Chicago and while she was
living here her uncle introduced her to the world of science.Mea enrolled
to Stanford University when she was sixteen years old and graduated in
1977 with a degree in chemical engineering and Afro-American studies.

She was the first African-American astronaut who flew aboard the
Endearvour space ship in September 12,1992.She got awarded several
awards and honorary doctorates.She was chosen on June 4,1987 and
she became the first African-American women to go through space
training.While she was in space her and her crew mates did
experiments on weightlessness and motion sickness for the eight days
she was in space.She noted that society should notice how much
women and members of other minority groups can do.
 Why I chose her?????????
While I was looking up African-American people she popped up and i
was surprised to know that she was the first African-American
Astronaut.
