Client Profile
Artists Robb and Brienne Stark are purchasing a condo above an art studio
in Chicago, Illinois. In their early to mid-thirties the couple enjoys
traveling, photography, playing music and going to local shows. A music
room is a necessity for this home, as it is a means for work, and will
display a large collection of records as well as instruments. A modern,
clean look is the style preferred with eccentric furniture pieces and pops of
colors contributed with photographs taken by Mrs. Stark. A
monochromatic color scheme is best used in this space, essentially starting
with neutral colors, and using variations of those. Adding texture will bring
harmony to the space, thus creating a relaxing and creative environment.
Architectural Style
The historical style used on this building is Dormer Pediment
Second Empire. The most important window
aspects of this style are the mansard roof, Two-over-
a dormer window protruding from the roof, two
windows
and the corner pavilion. Second Empire Mansard
Roof
was created to be a more elaborate and
grander style, derived from and similar to
Italianate and Renaissance Revival. The
combinations of roofs used are impeccable, Projecting
Cornice
each roofline defining it space, and a broad
Corner
color scheme throughout tie together the Pavilion
look. (Harwood)
