Belt Friction

Additional Theory
Belt friction is a term describing the friction forces between a belt and a
surface.
When one end of the belt is being pulled only part of this force is
transmitted to the other end wrapped about a surface.
In practice , the theoretical tension acting on the belt calculated by the belt
friction equation can be compared to the maximum tension on the belt can
support.
Belt friction can be modelled by the belt friction equation.
The tension is on the pulling side and pulley has the ability to increase
exponentially if magnitude of the belt angle increase.
Observation
For test 1 , we do an experiment for v belt large groove . In this test ,we set
up the degree or angle of lap with 90 , 120 , 150 and 180.
Then , we set up mass of m2(hold) with initial value which is 500 g and
increase the value with add 200 g more until 1300 g. When the mass of
hold increase , the mass of load also increase.
For test 2 , we use fixed angle that is 90 and set up with different belt
which is flat belt , v belt large groove and v belt with fit groove. Samewith
test 1 , when the mass of hold increase, the mass of load also increase.
However , the mass of load value for each type of belt is different because
the surface for the belts is different.
