Competency 7
Competency 7
This information allows us to determine during home visits and hospital visits
if the client is doing better after receiving services offered by DSS.
Interventions used for clients are based on their cultural beliefs as well as income.
Individuals with higher incomes are able to afford more services outside of what DSS can
provide for them through medical insurance or at a lower rate.
Some clients work better with one on one counseling sessions rather than support groups
based on their age and physical capabilities.
ASSESS INDIVIDUALS, FAMILIES, GROUPS,
ORGANIZATIONS, AND COMMUNITIES
7.3 Develop mutually agreed-on intervention goals and objectives based
on the critical assessment of strengths, needs, and challenges within
clients and constituencies.
Clients work with social workers to form goals during the evaluation and
assessment processes. Certain needs that are found among APS clients
include social support as well as affordable resources such as housing in
group facilities.
Challenges of some clients include being away from their family and/or not
having their family members visit them when they are in home facilities.
