Sun and moon

Artist: Maria
Describe
This painting is by a classmate of mine, her name is maria. She used
watercolor paint for this. She is very skilled when it comes to painting. She has
the patience for it. In this painting you can see two koi fish swimming with
each other along with some lily pads in the corners. You can also tell that the
painting is very neat and smooth. It is also bright in color making it warm and
very pleasing. Maria named the painting Sun and Moon.
Analyze
Maria used space, line,shape ,and color from the elements of art in her
painting. She uses define curves and straight lines to complete her koi fish.
And uses various shapes on the artwork as well. In color she made the
painting bright and calming but still used dark colors to add a bit of contrast.
Interpret
I believe the art represents opposites. Based on the name of the painting I
also believe one koi fish represents the sun and another the moon. The dark,
black and white fish is the moon while the yellowish orange fish is the sun.
since the moon and sun are quite different from each other I think the
painting is also a representation of the yin yang.
Judge
Marias art is very good and beautiful how it is but a way she could have
improved it is by adding some lighting and shadowing making her art more
realistic. But other than that everything is amazing
