 INTRODUCTION

Due to increasing energy demand, world no

longer can rely entirely on fast depleting non
renewable energy sources like oil, natural
gas, coal etc.
Biofuel, a type of fuel produced from
renewable biological resources such as plant
biomass and treated municipal and industrial
waste, promises a lot in energy sector esp.
for automotive energy demands.

The entire process can be divided into 3 sub

OBJECTIVES OF PROPOSED PROJECT

Project includes production, characterization and

testing of biodiesel from low grade cashew nuts.
For characterization of biodiesel a setup
consisting of flash point and fire point apparatus,
pour point and cloud point apparatus, bomb
calorimeter, say bolt viscometer etc. is to be
fabricated
Chemicals required for the synthesis of biodiesel
is to procured
An experimental diesel engine test rig is to
fabricated to conduct the load test
Preparation of bio diesel with different vegetable
oils and analyze its performance characteristics
