Under 10x magnification, dermoscopes can observe numerous hanglider-like triangles indicating scabies mites on the head of the skin. They can also see gray delta structures at the start of skin sulci corresponding to parasites and ovoid translucent structures similar to jet contrails. Dermoscopes allow observation of patterns associated with skin cancers like basal cell carcinoma and malignant melanoma, including arborizing blood vessels, blue-gray globules, large blue-gray nests, leaf-like structures, and atypical networks or dots of multiple colors.
