555 TIMER

555 TIMER
Pin 1 Ground
Pin 2 Trigger input
When trigger input is given with a negative pulse (less
than 1/3 Vcc), OUTPUT is HIGH
Pin 3 Output
Pin 4 Reset
When high, 555 works normally
When low, it stops its function and make its output 0
Pin 5 Control voltage
Usually it is connected ground via0.01micro F
capacitor, to reduce noise
Pin 6 Threshold
When its voltage is above 2/3 Vcc, Output becomes 0
Pin 7 discharge
Connected to Vcc via resistor
Pin 8 - Vcc
MODES OF OPERATION
ASTABLE
Relaxation oscillator
Produces pulse trains (continuous pulses)
Continuously switches from one state to another
Voltage of Capacitor 1/3 Vcc to 2/3 Vcc
MONO STABLE
One shot multivibrator
Produces only one pulse, if an external trigger is
applied
useful for creating a timing period of fixed duration in
response to some external event
Voltage of Capacitor 0 to 2/3Vcc
ASTABLE
DESIGN
MONOSTABLE
DESIGN

T = 1.1RC, where T is the pulse width of the output pulse
