prepared using red
soil, F.Y.M., Rice husk.

F.Y.M. (farm yard manure)

Rice husk / Sand

 Other organic manures
such as Neem cake,
bone meal, basal dose
of fertilizers according
to crops is to be added
before bed preparation.
 Importance of organic
matter
In case manure (farm yard
manure) is used they also have
to be sterilized in order to kill
harmful organisms in them.
When using manure or other organic
matter the soil condition improves
due to:
The increases of the available moisture content
of soil.
An improvement to the soil
structure (texture, pore space)
The appropriate availability of
nutrients
 Importance and need of
addition of Rice Husk:
Addition of rice husk improves
Porosity and soil damage.
Soil drainage
Porosity : Each soil has got its
optimum ratio between the
quantities of air and solid
particles.
An initial demand made on the
soil is that it should be
well drained which may be
realized by bringing rice
husk, FYM in it.
This also
increases the available
moisture content of the
soil.
Soil drainage :
Profile and type of
well drained soil in upper layer
but having an interfering
layer below in soil profile may
pose two types of risk
1.Regarded growth.
2.Stagnation in lower
level leads to rot
(Phytophtora
cryptogea )
 In case that he soil
contains an interfering
layer it has to be bruised
by deep ploughing to
improve drainage
capacity of media.
In this case, it necessary
to add rice husk.
