WHO IS A SUPERVISOR

A Supervisor guides activities of operators and/or other


employees engaged in the process of manufacturing,
inspection, processing and related activity.
Their work includes checking output, input material,
equipment and ensuring process controls.
They communicate, simplify, and interpret
specifications, job orders, and procedures for operators
and provide solutions to problems that affect the desired
output and organizational goals.
They also train employees for continual improvement
and to achieve the organizational objectives.
IMPORTANCE OF TRAINING A SUPERVISOR

It is important to train the supervisor as they are


responsible for training the operators and later
checking if they have done the work properly.
If the supervisor himself doesnt know how to do the
work even wont be able to train the operators.
Therefore it is very important that supervisor has
training so that he can develop all the skills required
for the job.

Communication

Having good communication skills is important as it allows


the supervisor to speak with impact and tell the operator
what exactly he needs to say without any difficulty.
The supervisor can be trained by making them
understand:-
How important it is to listen to the problems of the
operator.
How to effectively get there message across to the operator.
Proper body language.
To treat everyone equally.
To maintain a positive attitude.
Conflict Resolution

When a supervisor has the ability to manage conflict


well, issues come to resolutions and successful
relationships are developed.
A supervisor must be taught about the different
kinds of conflicts that may arise and how to tackle
them.
He should be taught to stay calm, listen to the
problem and try to solve the conflict by
understanding the viewpoints of both the parties and
coming up with a feasible solution.
Leadership

The supervisor can be trained to improve their


leadership skills by asking him to do the following
To identify and utilize his strengths.
To set definitive goals and follow action plans.
To improve communication skills.
To motivate others.
To continue educating himself.
Stress Management

These are the following things the supervisor must


be taught to improve his stress management skills
- How to fight stress:-
Be busy to keep stress out of your mind.
Do not fuss about trifles.
Co-operate with the inevitable
Do not think about the past and concentrate on the

QUALITY CONTROL

Quality Control is the effort applied to assure that


end products meet the requirement and achieve
customer satisfaction.
In business, engineering and manufacturing, quality
has a pragmatic interpretation as the non inferiority
or superiority of something; it is also defined
as fitness for purpose.
Quality is a perceptual, conditional, and somewhat
subjective attribute and may be understood
differently by different people.
IMPORTANCE OF QUALITY

Quality is ultimately a question of customer satisfaction.


Good Quality increases- The value of a product or service,
establishes brand name, and builds up good reputation
for the garment exporting company.
All these results to-
1. Buyer satisfaction: The buyer is the most important
person as he pays for the products. He needs to be
happy. 2. Job security: If the company continues to
satisfy the buyer, it will keep getting orders regularly
and the workers jobs will be secure.
2. High sales: Good products sell out fast and profits can
be earned.

Keeping the products quality assured is a never ending


process - and one that can easily consume most of your
time.
As Quality Leaders - it must be our daily mission to
ensure that each product complete what we expect of
them
The module is offered to give Supervisors from various
Industries - ideas or guidance in carrying out their
mission.
Quality Standard Guideline

Standards are a set of characteristics or procedures that


provide a basis for decisions. The standards guide
product development, selection of materials, production
methods and finishing techniques.
For a quality supervisor, following quality standards
means that he or she has to follow the guidelines and
training given to him or her regarding a certain style:
Specification sheets: A Specification sheet contains the details of the
garment. Specifications are brief written descriptions of materials,
procedures, dimensions and performance for a particular style. The
similar example has been given in the chapter GARMENT
SPECIFICATIONS SHEET
Trim cards: Trim Cards consists of the sample of the trips used
in the garment, like Zipper, Buttons, Laces etc. It helps to
check the quality of the garment trims with sample trims.
Swatch cards: Fabric Swatch card are required to check the
quality of the fabric. Sometimes it is also used to differentiate
similar looking fabric designs
Measurement chart Measurement chart is the details of the
measurement of different size of the garment. It also consists
the tolerance level.
