BASIC PARAGRAPH

STRUCTURE

PARAGRAPH
A section or subdivision of a piece of
writing; it is always begin on a new line
Contains : one or a group of sentences
together discuss one subject
3 principal parts :
Topic sentence
Supporting sentences
Concluding sentences


TOPIC SENTENCE
Come at the beginning of a paragraph
Most general sentence (introduce an
overall idea)
Example : Halaman 1


SUPPORTING SENTENCES
Give an answer to what are the natural
features ( the second and third sentences)
Paragraph in english often have more than
two supporting ideas --> five to seven
sentences
Example : halaman ; 3, 4, 5


CONCLUDING SENTENCES
At the end of a paragraph which
summaries the information that has been
presented
Is a sort of topic sentence inreverse
Example : halaman 5


DETAILS IN PARAGRAPH
The sort paragraph is a complete
paragraph, but it lack details --> include
enough details, to help the reader
understand what we are writing about. We
could add about wheaton river with how
wide and why it is beautiful.
Example : halaman 6


A note of formality
Academic paragraph are different from
ordinary writing

One paragraph is about only one main
topic
